Happy Birthday, Baby Ewoks!

Today marks the first birthday of our adorable and cute baby, Ewoks.

Nine months ago I officially welcomed Ewoks as the family's baby when I wrote about him HERE.

He looked like this when he was just 3-month old:

And how worried my Pretty Mama was when I wrote about Tears for Fears. She has cried countless times when she thought she lost Baby Ewoks.

Prior to Ewoks' celebration of birth, my mother has huge plans for him. She wants a big party for our baby. But since everyone were busy, it wasn't possible for us to prepare things beforehand.

So we had to make do with whatever was laid on the table. Mama Dearie bought a small cake and invited Ewoks' friends and playmates in the neighborhood ;-). They were Hangal, Tropix, Onyok, Little Chin-Chin, Tsam- Tsam, Pringy, Teddy, Ratty, Jer-Jer, etc

They were all going gaga when I got home from work. All of Ewoks' visitors were present. Of course, I had to be present for the simple celebration, too. My cousin Ally, who went back home to Manila today, missed the celebration though. However, she was able to greet Ewoks via her phone :-)

To you Ewoks, happy birthday and thank you for making our home's atmosphere vibrant and for always plastering a smile on our faces :-)

Belated Happy Birthday, Tita!

For two years, my mother's elder sister (Ate in Filipino), has been celebrating her birthday with us. But again, just like my younger brother's birthday, we just decided to dine out.

My Aunt is a teacher by profession. And yes! Just like most teachers, she's a spinster. So on her birthday four days ago, she was basically alone. My mother invited her via SMS to celebrate her birthday with us. Our treat :-)

We certainly had a blast! We feasted on the sumptuous delicacies on the table. And yes! I lost control of myself and completely forgotten my diet. Tsk! Tsk! Tsk!

We took quite a handful of photos at the restaurant. That was a promise I've made to my Prince before leaving for dinner. And true enough, there were so many shots to show off!

Just like most Ate's, my Aunt took care of her younger sisters especially my mother. My mother was the youngest of eleven siblings. Their mother died when she was just two years old. So her Ate was left with no choice but to look after her.

My Aunt finished school when she's a little older because there were so many things to attend to in their family. She had to put off school because her father couldn't afford it. Her elder sisters and herself needed to save up enough for school fees before she could enroll. All of them had to help each other so that they could have a degree and get a good job thereafter.

I admire my Aunt for all the sacrifices she's made for her sisters. She's known to be a mother to the youngest sister of all- my own mother. On her birthday, I wish her all the best. She may be blessed with good health, longer life, serenity, and God's loving grace.

Note: When we got home that night, I was so taken aback when it was announced at the WBE Blog that I was the third inductee to the 2010 Class of WBE Blog of Fame...

What a fun night that was!

Happy Birthday, Brother Dear!

It was on Friday, the 15th of January, when my brother celebrated his birthday. Unlike the previous years, there was no celebration at home. I find it too stressful to do all the preparations and later on find myself down and sick.

With my two siblings

It actually was a double celebration. Marcuz, a family friend, also celebrated his birthday. They used to celebrate their birthdays together since they were both kids. This year, they celebrated it together again ;-)

We just decided to dine out with family and some friends together with some of KUERDAS' members. Now, quick weight loss is forgotten here for awhile. I completely lost control of myself again! Sigh!

But dining out means no hassle. No stress. More reasons to smile and have fun, ain't yeah?

After dinner, we proceeded to watch Kuerdas gig at the Jamaican Night. It was a night filled with fun and laughter.

The brother absolutely had a blast on his big day.

Belated Happy Birthday, Brother Dearie! May your birthday be filled with more blessings and may you incessantly recognize God's presence in your life and continuously glorify His name.

Fabulous Holiday With Friends, Family and Relatives

The last few days of 2009 were mostly spent with family, friends and relatives. Apart from being busy at work, I saw to it that the trip to Paradise Island was planned very well. I had to meet up with our family friend twice to be able to discuss some stuffs with her on how to maximize our stay at the Island and some other parts of Davao.

With Ate Nimfa, Crison, my brothers and their respective girlfriends

Before the planned escapade, my relatives from my mother side of the family, came over to visit us and some places in GenSan. It was a sudden change in their schedule as they already had informed us that they can't make it because they were all busy preparing for my cousin's wedding. But since they can't let this time of the year pass without having to spend some time with family and relatives, they had to take the long route.

Soon-to-be Mr. & Mrs. Razo

With my Pretty Mama, Tita, cousins and Sarah

The highlight of the said reunion was when my mother and her elder sisters had to speak in front of everybody and gave updates as to what happened to their respective families for 2009. Each one got very emotional and can't help the tears streaming down their cheeks while sharing their achievements, triumphs, and defeats to each family members.

Despite the highs and lows of 2009, our family was able to hurdle life's challenges and adversities. Indeed, the great Father Almighty was with us and He will always be all through the rest of our lives.

My Brother's Birthday Celebration

Blogging sure gave us all an opportunity to chronicle everything that's happening with our lives and what's working up in our heads. Putting down into writing every important or trivial events give meaning to self-expression. It not only became a hobby but a real passion to most bloggers.

For me, blogging is an avenue to express one's self, share and learn from other people's experiences. I may not be the best blogger around but the learnings I've gained in exercising this passion is something that can not be taken away from me.

There's no special reason for this post. I can't help but ask myself: Is my brother Utog's birthday celebration worth publishing here at my blog? Of course it is! His birthday celebration was one of the reasons I got totally stressed up because I singlehandedly did all the preparations.

Whew!

But it's all over and done with. I am back to my feet and I'd like to share some mementos with you ;-)

Do take a look at these photos:

The Rain, the Tricycle and the Lainy's Hottest Blogoversary Competition: A Bloggers Celebration!

What a contrast! It's summer now here in the Philippines but It was raining heavily yesterday. It went on for almost the entire day! It felt so good to just lay down in bed and sleep but I had no choice so I tidied myself up and prepared myself for work. I got wet going to my work place. You see, I commute going to and from my workplace day in and day out. If you're curious what do I take for a ride, take a look:

We call that mode of transportation "tricyle", a three-wheeled vehicle where it can accommodate 6 passengers- two at the frontseat, three including the driver and 4 at the back.  In this modern technology, we still are a little backward down here. It doesn't bother me at all except for one thing: a passenger who smoke their lungs out inside the very small and tight tricycle! You see how dead our government laws are?! There is an exisiting City Ordinance #12 series of 1992 which prohibits all passengers from smoking inside the public utility vehicles. But the law is not treated with iron hands! The constituents are not even aware there is a law like this that is in existence for more than a decade now! How pathetic! Sigh!
Well, going back to the heavy rain we've experienced here yesterdayIt basically prevented some people from doing their transactions at work. Not too many came to register themselves up. It was pretty boring! But to some, the rain is such a blessing especially for the farmers who have been praying for it. For them, it is a sign of more blessings to come!
In the afternoon, I was too busy and engrossed preparing some stuffs online for the official kick off of the Lainy's Hottest Blogoversary Competition: A Bloggers Celebration that I lost track of time. I haven't even noticed it's almost 4PM! Oh boy! This competition has been sapping me all of my strength. I feel like getting sick after March 15, LOL! Well, much care, thought and effort have been invested in this endeavor so I hope you guys will try to check it out!

Lainy’s Musings

So much of the rantings for this weekend! Saturday is no free day for me. I still need to report for work. Gotta go, peepz!
Till later!
P.S.
I would like to congratulate my very good friend Twerlyn of Twerlermz Blog for passing the interview at the U.S. Embassy. I am truly glad you made it! Uncle Sam, here comes the HAPIFAM
