Tete-a-Tete with MamaLira

There were several occasions in the past when I wrote I am down and sick, et cetera, et cetera. I hate to hit the publish button and tell the world I am at it again. sigh! Did I just say it? LOL!

It is a little hard to keep myself  healthy and it is so when I push myself too hard. Doing things which were extremely way out of my comfort zone had zapped me off of all my zest and energy. It slowly took its toll on me.

I hate being sick. But looking at how I did things a couple of months back, I was just like:

"Hey, I was able to make it?!!!"
With all that being said, there's one thing that I so look forward to despite the heavy work schedule. Blogpal Mama Lira of Tasteful Voyage was to set foot again in no less than her own hometown where she was born and bred. Incidentally, I came from the same place too... :-) Isn't that more than a coincidence and wonderful?

Being blogpals, we shared a lot of things in common especially in doing moolah out of our respective blogs, hehe. With her short stint in the Philippines, I was a little doubtful if she could ever share a little of her time with me. Understandably, ten (10) days with family and relatives is never sufficient.

I was happy to admit I was wrong. Mama Lira took the time and the effort (despite the heavy rains) to meet me along with a newbie blogger with excellent writing skills, Gemma Massey, who blogs from Living the Beautiful Life. Gemma was a high school classmate and a college school mate (we both came from the same university but enrolled in different majors- she took up AB English while I majored in Political Science). Both Gemma and Mama Lira got acquainted at Facebook before they've even met. See how powerful social networking sites can be?

Mama Lira, Gemma, & Yours Truly
Prior to meeting Mama Lira, I've mentioned to Windy how giddy I was with the sheer anticipation of seeing her in the flesh. When the day finally took place, I made a phone call to Windy and informed him I was with Lira and then handed over the phone to her. Lira is junior to me by five years or more and Windy had this quick repartee...
"OMG! Why did she ever called herself Mama Lira?"
You'll get to understand it, Windy IF you get to be a mother one day, hahahaha!

You must be dead curious what were the topics discussed in our very short tete-a-tete . Well, your guess is as good as mine ;-)

Mama Lira is a very simple lady. What she is at the blog is a persona of a genuine personality- no pretensions, not superficial. I am aware that the limited time spent with her is not enough to build such a strong bonding but she has created that strong impression and impact on me.

Building rapport and camaraderie at the blogs is so imaginary and often unreal. But when one gets to meet and to talk with the other person,  face to face, it makes online relationships hit a natural realism and enhances the relationship.

Time and Tide Waits For No Man

The election period is not over not until June 9, 2010. There is a prevailing resolution that all organic employees of the Commission are not allowed to file a leave of absence not until June 30, 2010. The good thing is that, we won't be working our a$$e$$ off like we used to. No more overtimes. It means we don't have to report for work on extended hours during weekdays, legal holidays, Saturdays and even Sundays.

That's me  caught in the most compromising situation- feeling so dead tired!

What a relief it has been!

As you can obviously notice, this blog has almost been idle because of the toxic work schedule. However, I made sure that my other blog, Lainy's Musings is regularly updated- at least one article a day.  I can't  imagine how I was able to juggle blogging and my regular work on a 8-7 basis. .

After the winning local candidates here in GenSan were proclaimed at 8:30 PM of May 12, 2010, I had more time to  be in front of the PC and write stuffs which has been creeping through my head. I haven't been around as frequently as I could and I am trying to make up for my absence.

It's like I am a woman possessed. I have been writing endlessly and hitting the publish button constantly over at my other blog as if there's no tomorrow, LOL! I used to believe a published article needs ample time for exposure before a new post is published. But, taking in mind what my brilliant blogpal Windy told me:
Time and Tide Waits For No Man.
So I told myself: The heck with hits and exposure! I will write for as long as I am able to!

I hope you could all keep up with all the recent published posts. There are still many more to come. Here's hoping that my constant presence isn't that agitating when I get to bare the hurting truths about blogging, LOL!

Sunday is Family Day

When we were still little kiddos, my entire family would usually spend time together every Sundays. Going to church together and dining out thereafter is the usual practice of the family.

But when we were growing up, we had, in a way, deviated from the usual family practices. The usual family bonding during weekends were somehow taken for granted and were usually spent with friends and some other activities.

I've missed those times when our entire family would go out together, watch a movie and just simply dine out. My Prince would often encourage me to spend my time with them as often as I possibly could. It was then when I realized the importance of family bondings and togetherness. It was still there alright but it wasn't anymore the family's priority because each of us have different schedules and activities.

But I wanted us to restore the family's tradition. Despite our busy schedules, I've made it known to everyone in the family that they are expected to be present on a certain day where we have to spend time together.

Today was one of the remarkable moment where we were once again bonded and simply just had a good time. There was no special occasion to celebrate. We also had the opportunity to be with some relatives who took the time to visit us. Together with us were Heart Gel, my brother's gf and my niece (daughter of my cousin), whom I am going to send to school come opening of classes this coming June.

After having a feast on the delicious and sumptuous meals at one famous steak house, we proceeded to play BEDminton.

Specialty of the House:
Baby Back Ribs-

Ohhh! I meant BADminton, LOL!

Here are some proofs of today's activities:

After all the things that's been said and done about today's events, I'd like to make a statement. Yes, I am a sister, a daughter, a friend and many more things. But above all these, I am proud to be doing one of my greatest past time.

Certainly, blogging has brought me tremendous joy and fulfillment.

Yes!

I am proud to be a blogger... and I have the luxury of time doing my blogging chores only on Sundays ;-)

Welcome Back to the Blogosphere, Recel!

This post is to officially welcome the return of a great blogging comrade. Recel who blogs from My Written xPressions and Rare Ordinary Thoughts, left the US to visit her homeland Philippines sometime in October 2009. She took a 3-month blogging hiatus while on vacation. She has other things in mind, too when she left Uncle Sam but some plans didn't materialized as originally planned. I am awaiting for her to share her version of the story at her blogs ;-) She is actually a nurse-wanna-be. But a full-time homemaker she is too to her daughter and husband and mind you, she does it perfectly well.

Recel is an epitome of a blogger who blogs from the heart and who blogs for self-expression. She is also devoted in exalting the name and great deeds of the Lord across her blogs. She loves going through different blogs and makes her presence felt by commenting.

Recel coveted the second top spot for Lainy's Hottest Blogoversary Writing Competition: A Bloggers Celebration last year. Her masterpiece was declared second place after getting the nod of the three judges as well as the majority of readers at the Poll. You can see the declaration of winners HERE. To have a glimpse of her contest entry, you can click HERE.

Friends, help me in welcoming back a great person rolled into one- blogger, mother, wife, friend, servant of God, daughter, sister, etc....

Welcome back, Recel!

My Brother's Birthday Celebration

Blogging sure gave us all an opportunity to chronicle everything that's happening with our lives and what's working up in our heads. Putting down into writing every important or trivial events give meaning to self-expression. It not only became a hobby but a real passion to most bloggers.

For me, blogging is an avenue to express one's self, share and learn from other people's experiences. I may not be the best blogger around but the learnings I've gained in exercising this passion is something that can not be taken away from me.

There's no special reason for this post. I can't help but ask myself: Is my brother Utog's birthday celebration worth publishing here at my blog? Of course it is! His birthday celebration was one of the reasons I got totally stressed up because I singlehandedly did all the preparations.

Whew!

But it's all over and done with. I am back to my feet and I'd like to share some mementos with you ;-)

Do take a look at these photos:

Made for TV Bloggers by David Funk

David Funk is the brains behind Basic Blogonamics. He is one articulate and creative writer. He can talk from a wide variety of topics. And of course! He is famous for producing his own movie which stars all his blogpals, isn't that great and wonderful?

You've got to check out Made for TV Bloggers where yours truly was one of the many characters.

Lead actress: Lainy

Plot:

This romantic film stars Lainy as she talks eloquently and openly about the journey in her life. This road is a bumpy one with controversy surrounding at every turn, but Lainy is undeterred in her path to blogging stardom. This epic tale shows the colorful, creative superstar blogger that everyone can fall in love with. Balance is key throughout the movie, and is on display to show the world her road to where she's been and where she's at.

Note:

Controversy arose when producers noticed a hacker on the loose during the making of the film. The objective and fair-minded Lainy was able to refocus her attention to deliver a performance of the ages.

A Very Sad Departure

A few hours from now, I will be departing for the Mindanao Goodwill Games 2009 bound for  Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur. I have never been to the place and I have no idea what to expect from this trip. It will be the farthest trip I will be taking by land thus far- 10 hours at the most.

For hours, I have been dragging my feet into packing my things. Would you believe it's 12:24 AM and I am still wide awake? I can't sleep.

I hate leaving. There were so many reasons. But I was left with no choice.

I am writing this post with a very sad and heavy heart. NOT because I am set to leave and can't be online for five (5) long days.  There's something that confounds me and I feel empty.

I have no idea what life holds for me when I come back. Blogging will sure take a backseat. It's a decision I have made today...

Do wish me a safe trip...

I will be missing you all!

My Deepest Condolences

Pencil lily Pictures, Images and Photos
My family and I would like to express our heartfelt sympathy to a very good blogger friend and mentor Ivy of My So Called Life. The news came as a shock to me. I was expecting her bubby to be back from the hospital soon. But things didn't turned out as expected. I know words are not enough to make you feel alright, Ivs. I know how devastated you are. That's how I felt when I lost my father six years ago. I know how painful it is. Losing your husband is like losing a part of yourself and I know no words of comfort can be enough to fill the void that's inside your heart now. But hang on the Lord Almighty's power and let him stregthen you...
This is for you:
"Lord, please grant me the serenity to accept the things I can not change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference... " ( Prayer written by Bill W.)
To you my dear friend Ivy and family, my prayers and most heartfelt condolences at this heartbreaking time.

Thank you Pictures, Images and Photos
