Saving Up for My Future

I have been paying for my insurance for almost a year now. Thank God my mother works as an insurance agent on the side so life insurance quote was not so difficult to acquire. The best thing about insurances is that you're investing for something long lasting while you are still very productive. The money grows over the year and I will eventually reap my investment when the time comes that I am no longer productive.

Indeed, there is no better way to prepare for my own future than NOW.

I Lost My Passport...

One of the many things I've accomplished today was to search for my passport which was inadvertently lost in the vicinity of my own room. Thanks to our dumb househelp, grrrrrr! She must have burnt it along with some other important documents. I should have followed my guts and fired her after the first day at home but I gave her too many chances.

Scene 1: There was one instance where I've asked her to give me a scratch paper. What she gave me was my internet bill.

Scene 2: I went home for lunch at 12 nn. She was told in the morning to prepare veggies. When I got home, she just started out slicing the ingredients at 12nn. I need to go back to work at 1pm. I took a nap while I waited for the food to be served on the table. When I woke up, she still has to cook rice to go with the viand she prepared! I went to work on an empty stomach

It's just a few of the many instances where my BP surged from deep disappointment. The househelp's performance was quite dismal.

Anyways, back to my lost passport. I tried to search for it in every nook and cranny. The effort exerted proved to be futile.

I've called up the Department of Foreign Affairs and asked for advice on what to do since my passport is still valid until December of 2010. They said I have to reapply as a new applicant. I have to submit the necessary requirements like Police Blotter Report, Affidavit of Loss, passport size ID pictures and NSO original birth certificate. What's striking was that I have to wait 3 months for me to be able to reapply!

Gosh!

It's just too much for me to bear! The DFA personnel tried to appease me by saying it won't take that long if I could provide a scanned copy of my lost passport.

Good thing I have one!

I am still in the process of completing the requirements. I got the Police Blotter Report today where the process was quite stressful.

Sigh!

New Look!

A couple of weeks ago, the mother and daughter tandem went to a salon and had our hair done. I had no plans to have a makeover. I just felt lazy. But Pretty Mama kept nagging me about it and was suggesting to have my hair permed; just the same way I had it in 2006. I knew her motive when I saw her smiling everytime she would encourage me to go with her to the hairdresser. She wants me to pay for her...

Sigh!

So off we went to the salon one Sunday afternoon and yes! She won! I had my hair permed once more!

In a matter of 30 minutes, my hair looked like this:

And my toenails looked like this:

Now My Prince Scotty calls me Curlainy, LOL!

Brisk Walking

Keeping a close watch on my blood pressure has been a real ordeal. I must say it has been a real struggle health-wise for me. I had to take extra measures especially on the aspects of diet and exercise.

I took a minimum of 30 minutes to one hour of brisk walking in the neighborhood in the morning or in the evening. I firmly believe that it is the best fat burner. I lost two kilos since I got out of the hospital in June. I still need to lose two to three kilos more to have my normal weight and for me to be able to wear my favorite jeans ;-)

Waiting For God's Sent...

Friends from college and high school days, most of them, have already settled down. If not married, they already have cuddly kids of their own. Some of them are about to get married and are inviting me on their wedding. Even friends that I haven't heard from for a long time have communicated with me lately through text messages and emails. All of them ask the same questions. "Who did you get married to?" or "When are you gonna have kids of your own?". I tell them I ask the same question myself and make a joke out of it. Most of them get even more surprised of my not having a boyfriend.

Not that I'm choosy since I'm not really that pretty, you know. It's just that I haven't met the man that I think I can spend the rest of my life with yet. I go out with friends and meet some guys. It's either he don't seem interesting to me or the other way around. No chemistry whatsoever.

Some friends told me that they think men find me intimidating. They might think so because I really don't pay too much attention to guys. I think they won't like me anyway. Sigh.

My past experiences with ex's and friends' experiences with relationships may have affected my view about love and marriage. I don't ask for a perfect man or a perfect love because I know there's no such thing. Maybe I'm just not ready to get hurt. I know I shouldn't think that way but I don't trust myself for being in a relationship because I'm afraid I'll just give up on it.

Better yet, I'd rather enjoy being single for now. When I get ready, I'll let our Father know and ask Him for my prince. In that way, whoever that man is, I know I'll be happy with him for the rest of my life because he's God's sent.

Rearranging Lainy's Living Room

When I was looking at the photos of Lainy during her birthday bash last week, I saw a lot of changes on their living room. It looked like a lot of things aren't there anymore. The living room used to look too crowded because of a lot of appliances and music instruments in it. Lainy told me that she rearranged the room so visitors will get comfortable while they're there. I wonder were she kept all those stuffs during that day. Instead of the big TV in the living room, she should just get herself a flat screen TV which she can place in a flat panel mount. That way, she will have a lot of space at home and she won't get too exhausted rearranging things and appliances in the room during celebrations.

A Dentist A Day Drives the Tooth Decay Away

Saturday-Saved the Best for Last # 4

Today has been a long day for me. I had an appointment with my new dentist. Lucky me! I've found a better one. It took me a month of waiting before I was finally able to make an appointment with her. I had my regular teeth clean-up and she recommended to have my fillings changed.

Geez! that visit lasted a four long hours! I want to save a tooth which required a lot of work. I opted for root canal. I have been procrastinating about my teeth care. I should have made this my priority but as it is with most things needed, I just couldn't find the time to visit the Dentist. The cost for the root canal itself left me stupefied. Oh boy! I did not realize that saving a tooth could be that costly!

The dentist gave me a good discount price though. Instead of charging me up for 4 canals, she only charged me with 3. I think it's a good deal considering that it's my first time being treated by her!

The Dentist was about to inject some anesthesia when I stopped her immediately and told her that I feel OK. The pain was actually tolerable. I was proud of myself for I was able to bear the pain and the discomfort. The dentist was even prouder and exclaimed:

"Are you sure you are OK? WOW! You're such a strong girl!"
Well, the spike in my blood pressure after the session would tell you that I wasn't OK. LOL! I was tensed. Blood pressure was at 140/ 120. Oh well! I can imagine the look of surprise on the attendant's face. I pacified her by letting her know that I am really fine...

Anyways, I will be back there for a couple more sessions. I am set for another appointment come Thursday.

Sigh!

Daughter and Mother Sleeping Together

I take luxury in the comfort of our own home especially if I am lying down in the old matrimonial bed of my parents. Yes, the mattresses still are good after so many years of ownership. You will ask me: why in your parents' matrimonial bed?

Oh well ! I can say that I am a rather displaced child, LOL! When my father was still alive, I love to sleep in between the two of them. Mind you, I already was in college at the time! My father even begged me to go back to my own room but being the stubborn girl that I was, I just shrugged my shoulders off. But then, one day, I realized what am I doing in their room? I have my own room alright but I do love the mattress of their bed that I became a nuisance, hahaha! So I had the heart of a good child and went back to my room.

My father's death prompted me again to go back sleeping in their room when my mother got bad nightmares. She can't be on her own so the time had come when I went back sleeping on their bed.

Until this time, my mother and I sleep together.

What Really Matters

When I was still in school, I found hurdling with school projects like term papers, thesis and the like was all too time-consuming and taxing.

I remember the time when I had to come up with a topic for my own thesis. I had to gather data and collate everything. I contemplated on doing a study of a local drug rehab here in the city. But there were some extenuating circumstances where I had to find another topic. There weren't enough material for me to gather and I had to travel every now and then to a far-flung village just to get to the place. It wasn't smart to sacrifice my own safety just to accomplish a thing in school.

If only my own security in going to the place was assured by the Philippine National Police, I could have pursued with my plan. But everything turned out well even if I chose another topic. I was able to graduate and found a secured job after graduation. It's all that really matters ;-)

My Dream of Becoming a Lawyer

When I was younger, I dreamt of becoming a lawyer, In fact, I took a Bachelor's degree in Political Science as an undergraduate course. During my final year in college, it was time to take the entrance exams for the law school. There were about 5 of us in the class, including me, who did not take the exams. It was for the reason that I had to put off school and decided to find a good job after graduation. I wanted to be of help to my family financially. And since here in the city, there's only one law school who offers night classes to aspiring lawyers, at the time, I didn't think I could serve two masters at the same time. I enrolled instead in the Graduate School program.

Had I enrolled in the law school and made it to the Bar Exams, my father would have been so proud of me. It was his dream to have a lawyer in the family. Anyways, who knows? I could still be one of the Seattle personal injury attorneys if I decide to pursue my dream and settle in Seattle.

Sometimes, the call of pursuing that dream is just too tempting because I am an organic employee of the COMELEC. But since, my Prince and I have other things in mind, I had to somehow let go of that dream.

Maybe it's not for me.

My Weekend and Some Updates....

Hey guys!
Finally, I am back here to update this blog again. For two nights, I have been suffering from terrible headaches that keeping myself away from my PC is necessary. A month from now, I will be back to my ophthalmologist for my annual eye check up. Well, I reckon, the inevitable is already expected. I hate it everytime the physician tells me to have my eyeglasses or contact lenses changed to a higher grade. It currently stands at 10.00 on both eyes. It might be the reason for the frequent headaches not to mention the very hot weather condition everyday. Oh man! Is this some kind of an inferno over here???
Well, I think blogging on a minimal basis shall be the case for me now. It is a must, Lainy! But I think I am not helping myself at all. Even with a headache last night, I kept my eyes glued infront of the PC because I was too excited to install my new comment form across my blogs. Thanks to my friends, Marzie of Wishing on a Falling Star and Uncle Che of Novice Master for always bearing with me! Uncle Che's patience in helping me out all the way is commendable! Marzie's willingness to help and her gesture of fiddling with the codes and stuffs is worth mentioning, too! Geez! What would I be without them?
Anyway, my weekend was far from the perfect weekend I had imagined. The David Pomeranz Concert Experience was a complete disappointment! Just check out the link if you want to know why.
It's been two weeks since I got wounded and now the scab is almost gone but the scar is becoming more and more evident. It's the thing I have to deal with after the scab is completely removed. I am glad I have recovered well from that fall but I was hounded by the thought of My Sayang getting sick. I hope he recovers quick. I know he is such a tough guy!
As much as I wanted to share everything with you in this post, it isnt't just possible. I can go on and on and on and eventually bore you to death! Better reserve those stuffs for my next post!
Goodnight everyone!

Thank you,
T WI N K L E T O E!
